da

by thankfeldenkrais

We’ve had laughter,
And many many tears,
We get raspberries,
And squeals.
We sign to help evolve his language,
And attempt to limit his frustration.

But then we hear voice.

Da.

Da.

Da.

One syllable.

Sharp.

Staccato.

Yet husky,
As though stuck awhile,
Waiting to escape.

So beautiful,
Goose bumps cover my body,
And a smile I cannot wipe from my face.

He has found voice,
He has found language,
He knows his daddy,
And he calls his name.

My heart wants to burst from my chest.

I finally get my sing song,
And the wait,
Is beyond worth it.
